Privacy
What this site keeps, and what it does not.
Short version: This site uses only essential cookies unless you choose to accept analytics. If you accept, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. We keep your enquiry if you send one, and your email address if you ask for Field Notes. We do not sell your data.
Who runs this site
Cielo Andaluz is a small off-grid farm on Granada’s Costa Tropical, in Spain. This site is ours, and the decisions about what it stores are ours.
For anything in this policy, write to hola@cieloandaluz.com and you will reach us, not a department.
Cookies
This site uses a small essential cookie called ca-cookies. It remembers your cookie choice, so we do not have to ask you every time you visit. It lasts for one year and does not identify you personally. With your permission, we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this website, for example which pages are visited, how people move through the site, and whether the site is working well. Analytics only starts if you choose to accept it in the cookie notice. Google Analytics may collect technical information such as your device, browser, approximate location, pages visited and interactions on the site. We use this information in aggregated form to improve the website and understand what is useful to visitors. We do not use advertising cookies, profiling cookies or remarketing pixels. We do not sell your data. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the cookie notice. If you decline, Google Analytics will not load.
When you send an enquiry
The form asks for your name, your email address, what you are enquiring about and whatever you write in the message. We keep those four things.
They are saved in this site’s own database and sent to us by email. They are used to answer you and to carry on the conversation, and for nothing else. We do not sell them and we do not pass them to anyone who is not helping us run the site.
When you sign up for Field Notes
We keep your email address, the page you signed up from, and the sentence you agreed to along with the date. The last two exist so we can show, if asked, that you chose this.
Your address is saved here and also sent to Substack, which is what actually sends the letters. Every letter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just ask us.
Who else sees any of this
Five companies help us run the site, and each sees only the part it needs: Vercel keeps the site online, Neon holds the database, Resend delivers the enquiry emails, Substack sends Field Notes, and Google provides analytics only if you accept analytics cookies. They act on our instructions or according to their own service terms where relevant. Nobody receives your data from us for advertising or resale.
They act on our instructions. Nobody else receives your data.
How long we keep it
Enquiries stay while the conversation is alive and for as long as we may reasonably need them afterwards. Field Notes addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove yours. Analytics information is kept according to our Google Analytics retention settings and is used only to understand and improve the website.
If you want something gone sooner, ask and we will delete it.
What you can ask us for
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or tell us to stop using it. Write to hola@cieloandaluz.com and we will answer.
If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can complain to the Spanish data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, at aepd.es.
Changes to this page
If what we do changes, this page changes with it, and the date below changes too.
